2020 County Convention – Passed Resolutions

LCRP Precinct Conventions (109 has held March 10) and County Convention were held on Saturday, June 20, 2020 at the American Legion Hall, 200 Legion Dr., Llano, TX 78643, beginning at 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM, respectively.  The following lists our passed Resolutions.

PREAMBLE

  • The Llano County Republican Party (LCRP) affirms the Republican Party of Texas Preamble from 2018 Permanent Platform. Affirming our belief in God, we still hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. Throughout the world, people dare to dream of freedom and opportunity. The Republican Party of Texas unequivocally defends that dream. We strive to preserve the freedom given to us by God, implemented by our Founding Fathers, and embodied in the Constitution. We recognize that the traditional family is the strength of our nation. It is our solemn duty to protect innocent life and develop responsible citizens. We understand that our economic success depends upon free market principles. If we fail to maintain our sovereignty, we risk losing the freedom to live these ideals.

PRINCIPLES

  • The Llano County Republican Party (LCRP) supports the Republican Party of Texas’ (RPT) platform, which sets forth the Principles and Values of our Republican Party. These consist of but are not limited to:

    • Strong National Defense
    • Smaller Government
    • Balanced Budget & Reduced Spending
    • Energy Independence through Domestic Oil Production
    • Less Federal Government Interference

BUSINESS, COMMERCE, & TRANSPORTATION

  • 204-4: Be it resolved that the Republican Party, while embracing Free Trade, believe appropriate limitations be imposed to insure vital resource independence including energy, food and medications for Americans.
  • 204-5: Be it resolved that the Republican Party of Texas supports legislation mandating Country of Origin Labeling on all foods and medicines.
  • 410-1: Be it resolved that we urge the Texas Legislature to enact legislation requiring that all beef sold commercially in the State of Texas be labeled as to its Country of Origin, and furthermore that only beef which was harvest from animals born, raised, slaughtered, and processed in the U.S.A. be allowed to be sold as a “Product of the U.S.A.
  • 410-3: Be it resolved that we urge the Texas Legislature to enact legislation which will increase the fees for mopeds which State Inspection Stations are allowed to charge in keeping with the time and equipment needed to perform this valuable service, and furthermore that this fee should be equivalent to the fee for passenger automobiles.

CONSTITUTIONAL ISSUES

  • 109-1: Be it Resolved that no laws created outside the constitutionally based process and authority ma be used in any Texas courtroom to justify any legal finding or action.
  • 109-2: Be it Resolved that with the consent of the citizens of Texas, the government of the State of Texas is obligated to protect the citizens of Texas from unconstitutional federal laws and acts by interposing itself between Texas citizens and the United States government and by declaring any unconstitutional federal laws and acts null and void within the boundaries of the State of Texas.
  • 109-6: Be it Resolved that votes for State Constitutional Amendments be determined by a county majority rather than by statewide popular majority vote.
  • 410-5: Be it resolved that the Republican Party of Texas should maintain the following as a legislative priority: “Pass constitutional care while maintaining licensing as option for reciprocity purposes.”

CRIMINAL & CIVIL JUSTICE

  • 410-4: Be it resolved that we urge the Texas Legislature to enact legislation requiring that all finally convicted felons to be reported by the Secretary of State (SOS) annually to their local registered voters by the District Clerk to be promptly removed from the voter rolls of that county, pending the completions of all terms of incarceration, parole, supervision, periods of probation, or legal pardon, and furthermore that no ballots be mailed or otherwise provided to incarcerated felons within the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for use in local, state, or national elections.

STATE AFFAIRS

  • 204-3: Be It Resolved the Republican Party of Texas should support Texas Historical Buildings, Monuments and Museums and should stand firm in its resolve to make it unlawful for any group, individual, or entity to deface, remove or eliminate any of the above without the express consent of the governed in the jurisdiction that accepted, built, or supported the building, monument or museum.
  • 109-6: Be it Resolved that the Republican Party of Texas calls upon Texas elected officials to pass legislation to prohibit mass lockdowns on the people of Texas in the name of communicable disease response. Nor should Texas officials ever again dare to presume that they know better how to treat or prioritized the medical treatment of Texas and to make command and control edicts that dictate to health care providers how to do their job.
